My skin is very dull. I exfoliate it weekly, I wash it daily, I use lotion on it after showering or washing my face, use SPF on it regularly; I'm very good to it! But I suppose it's gotta be genetics or something because my skin is just dull and porous. Or maybe I just need a good skin serum.

Anyway, what was I saying?
Ahh yes! Dull skin. So I wanted to try a foundation that promised a dewy finish on my skin; a moisturizing and brightening effect. Boy was this the product to choose!
I used the Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse foundation in the color Porcelain Ivory / LIGHT 1 for my particular skin tone.
First, I washed my face and dried it making sure not to rub the towel across my face. Always make sure to gently pat your face dry with a towel as this doesn't cause redness and irritation like rubbing it does.
Then I got a disposable makeup wedge sponge (click for a link to the ones I use) wet and squeezed the excess water out of it. This is so it absorbs the water and not your foundation instead when you add it to the sponge.
I then add just a dab (see the picture to the left) of the Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse foundation to the end of the makeup wedge.
To apply it to my face I wipe it across one small area and then start dabbing it in all over that specific area until it's well blended. Repeat all over your face and wherever you need coverage.
When applying your foundation or concealer to your under-eyes make sure that you are not dragging the sponge across them because that is the most delicate and wrinkle/sag prone skin on your whole body. Don't pull on it or stretch it in any way. Just get a small dab of the foundation on the very end of your wedge and ever so gently dab it into the under-eye skin. For even gentler dabbing put the foundation on your (clean) ring finger and dab it in. This is the most gentle finger you have and using it will minimize the stretching and pulling you're (hopefully not) doing in that area.
FIRST IMPRESSION THOUGHTS
I do have to say it took a little while to set and dry but I didn't mind because the end result was lovely.
My dry, dull skin looked instantly glowy, dewy, moisturized and bright, It felt amazing too! After about an hour it felt like I didn't have makeup on at all - more like I had applied my nighttime moisturizer - in a good way. I had to keep myself from touching my face because it felt so soft and plump. My usual foundation usually leaves my skin feeling like it does naturally - semi-dry and semi-dull, just with less redness and acne.
The Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse foundation sells for around $7.19 - $8.99 on drugstore.com. It's about the same price in stores. I think I paid $7.99 at Meijer for it.
I also want to mention that this is not a long-lasting, all day foundation. I think it's perfect for a few hours at church, or for an event, or if you're going out to dinner and want a dewy glow. Or really any couple hour long occasion! After a few hours (maybe like...5 hours) it started to wear off on my acne spots. I have oily skin (despite it also being dry) in my t-zone (above my nose and eyes) and on my nose and this is how it worked for me. If you have a different skin type it may last longer for you!
I did also use a Rimmel concealer under my eyes and on any spots.
Please let me know in the comments if you've tried this foundation and what you think of it! I'm sure anyone else reading this would love to hear more opinions about it. I think it's a great foundation to wear if you're going on a Valentine's Day date tomorrow!
Also let me know if you like these kinds of reviews. I plan to do more of them on beauty products, baby products, mommy products and more!
Is there anything specific you'd like me to review? I'll certainly try my best :)
